Hey Freeba - Greetings from Chitown!
The local club up here is looking to acquire a new cart or two for use at Twin Oaks airport. I remember you had a large part in building several new carts for OF use. Do you still have the plans used to build said carts? Could we buy a set of plans from you? I hope to be getting back to OH soon so I can make certain Craig can still fly circles around my arse. Later, Geo |

Geo, attached is a pic of a cart I received a while back. Very simple design but have not actually seen or used one so no feedback to give.

Your in luck. I do have a set of "to scale" drawings for just this kind of request. Now I just have to find them.
Your biggest problem is going to be finding someone to drill the two main Blocks at top of caster. (1" X 2" X 5") that connect each casters two legs with 5/16" X 7" bolts and fitted with a bronze "T" shaped bushing for spindle bolt. That job was done by the Late but GREAT Mr. Christopher Thale's CNC cut parts. He was the one that made those 4 carts the functional artwork that they became. Using only Alum., Bronze, Stainless, quality synthetic saddle and plug materials is why they are still pretty. Just a heads up, each of those carts were about $700.00 per copy....FOR MATERIALS only!!!!!! and that was a while ago. On the hunt for the plans (and maybe parts list). ![]() |

OK! I have found the Cart plans and Parts list. I will clean them up and make them readable. I'm sure by next weekend or sooner "The Set" can be in the mail or hand delivered.
Those interested in a set should put in an order by : sending me their snail mail address <ztkc1@netscape.net> or post it here. There will be no cost but feel free to donate LARGE AMOUNTS (or what you can afford) to the "Help a struggling Hang Glider student" Fund. I have heard there are students of John's school that have a desire but little to no funds for their goal to become pilots in this great sport. If our great and esteemed Secretary might even setup this fund with a PayPal thing, then.... ![]() As always thank you for this time. primavera Last edited by freeeba; 07-02-2011 at 08:00 AM. |

Ok I now have in my hot little hands 10 sets of Cart Blueprints. Complete with true to life size Patterns for all plates, front caster and cradles. Along with a 7 pages of instruction details and parts list.
If you want a set and find yourself wanting to compensate me for this EXTENSIVE and COMPLETE effort to bring these drawings to the masses in a real pretty package.... Then donate as much as you can to John Alden's school, earmarked solely for helping to meet the cost of getting the less fortunate a subsidy for a lesson package. How best to award this subsidy should be determined by that want-a-be's enthusiasm to really want to learn. Of course this generosity factor is completely voluntary and designed to instill gratitude to all who make this a great sport for all. As always thank you for this time. primavera PS, Geo. H. and Larry H. yours are already coming. |
