Default Soliciting interest....

At the Spring Meeting, we briefly discussed a few candidate initiatives. As I recall there were several good ideas bandied about. I didn't take good notes, and I've forgotten the details of most. What I recall is listed below:

Gadgets:
•Membership identification: We discussed a helmet sticker concept – akin to annual license plate registration stickers - as a possible approach to visibly show membership currency.

•Emergency information tags. ‘Tags’ – real or virtual - that a pilot would (i) fly with and (ii) leave behind with the launch/ground operation mgr. Tags would contain critical emergency and contact information.

Are these worth pursuing?? Is anyone potentially interested in leading or supporting a group to bring either to fruition?

We also briefly discussed a couple initiatives that might be best advanced by focused committees. (Actually, I can only recall one - Marketing. But as I type this, several other ideas come to mind). In no particular order:

•Marketing - development of HG/PG marketing strategies, campaigns and or material targeting select communities and/or demographics in Ohio to increase awareness, sport participation and ultimately grow club membership. (Recall Isaiah was keenly interested in developing marketing material for the college he attends in NE Ohio)

•Awards - maintain record of awards/award categories, establish/maintain criteria, maintain a record of past recipients, track progress of current candidates, as well as soliciting/developing new awards - serious as well as gag.

•Community Giveback - responsible to research, compile and recommend candidate recipients of annual contributions. The committee might also be responsible to solicit, compile ideas for annual events which the club would perform or support to raise funds, potentially for recipient(s) identified above.

•Club HG trip(s) -Coordinate selection of dates, destinations and logistics for annual club trip(s)

•New Sites - organize and lead the search for new launch sites – or re-establishing old ones.

If you have other ideas for initiatives, please share!

If you have any interest and willingness to help out in the above areas - either by leading a committee, or by supporting one, post your interest…

After a short 'discovery and discussion' period, we'll post a vote for initiatives the group is willing to take on.

Well Done! I remember one Secretary who poked around similar questions and deeds to be done. Though not expressed as articulate as you Mr. Compton. If my style of participation can be tolerated, I'm in for all but marketing. No clue about that. When does party begin?

Larry,

Are some of those sites suitable for truck towing like the setup Steve Wendt uses at Blue Sky?

I had a peak at Laughery Creek via Google Earth and it looked like there might be some fresh logging going on there. The launch was still clearly visible too. Anyone in the Cincinnati area care to do a little recon for us to determine how much work it would take to revive this site?

Sri,
Took a peak at your suggestion, and I'm afraid it is totally tree covered. Are you sure you're looking at the right area?
This was a great sight for us back in the day, (NW) and the sight of the Indiana state record held by Mike Boerschig. (116 miles)
However, there were only a few who kept it cleared/cleaned, and that number has dwindled, and gotten older.
It would take a dedicated group, with a public relations envoy for new land owners for access. Sounds like a mad mission, needing endless ambition,.........sign me up!

I'm always in for this site, just like Madison. I'll cut and clear till clean but the political exposure not for me.

Larry Wright, any chance for a truck tow at some of the old foot launch sites? All we need to do is get up, then park on the ridge! I am really interested in the NW facing sites!!
