Nice pictures of Dave Aldrich launching! He's the same pilot in my photos above. Here's a recent but not current picture of my camera boom. Not the greatest, but works well enough.

Default Working a Thermal @ the Bilboard Spine + Spin Practice

Two more vignettes from all the audio, video, and tracklog data from Friday's long flight at Crestline. The first video is my best effort to date illustrating the experience of working a thermal all the way to the inversion layer where it breaks up.

I am indebted to Christopher for 'dragging me out' on Friday because I would not have gotten all this useful audio, video, and track data otherwise. This week in SoCal the soaring weather is poor, so Friday's airtime makes up for that.

Did I mention that I was flying Eric's old glider?
